Virtue signaling and the big lie:
From Ontario:
Canada is the ‘home and native land’ only for Indigenous communities.
Tell that to the 103 thousand Canadian families who lost loved ones during World War 1 (61K) and World War II (42K).
From the Star:
“From the time I was young, I had difficulty with some of the words of our national anthem. I cannot sing, “O Canada, our home and native land.” Yes, Canada is my native land — I was born in Canada. But I am a settler of European descent, and for Europeans, Canada is not “our” native land.
I doubt she had trouble with the words back then. Only now does she cry about them as Trudeau has elevated this to national and international proportions.
As settlers, we in fact appropriated it from others for whom this was their “native land.” As hard as it may be to acknowledge, we as settlers simply cannot use the phrase “our home and native land” with integrity and honour.”
Bull Shyte. Nobody owned the land. Why not just hand over Canada to the Indigenous people who do not and will never recognize Canada as their “native land.” Let us see how well they do to run this country given that by the 1600s they had not yet invented the wheel. They were not caretakers of the environment as we would be led to believe but exploited the land to suit their own purpose…just like the so called European invaders (sic). Witness the severe visual pollution of the 1,000 meter stretch of the Pat Bay highway in Victoria with billboards on either side of the highway. Caretakers of the land indeed?
And a bigger lie:
“I realize what a daring statement this is. Some people may scoff and say, “Is nothing sacred, not even the national anthem?” To them, I would reply, were the native people of this land not sacred when they were murdered, displaced or forced to assimilate? Was the land not sacred when it was carved up and claimed by settlers?”
I blame Trudeau for all of this. He has pitted first nations against Canadians and other special interest groups. He has isolated the indigenous community away from all other Canadians. And that is sad. Yet in his own post national state mind he is all talk and no bloody action. Witness his promise for clean drinking water on the reserves or the compensation to native children for the alleged child welfare abuse. Trudeau is fighting the award in court.
As the insane Covid 19 lying mantra says:
We are all in this together. Everyone. We are all Canadians.
But to Trudeau, all of us non indigenous people are guilty of genocide. I will never ever forgive him for saying that. Genocide is the most heinous crime against humanity. I am not a genocidal maniac but a Christian…Canadian.
Mark my words. You will see Trudeau change the name of British Columbia to something else. Same with Victoria, Vancouver, Regina, Prince Rupert, Prince George, London, Halifax, St John and St John’s, Kitchenr / Waterloo, Windsor…and on and on she goes.
My dear father…a World War II vet would be turning in his grave if he saw what was happening to this country.
Interesting Global News caught up with Justin Trudeau, who was vacationing in Tofino on Canada’s first National Truth and Reconciliation Day. His official itinerary placed him in “private meetings” in Ottawa, and a first nation rep in Kamloops invited Trudeau twice to attend their ceremony but he went surfing in Tofino instead.
Also, Trudeau’s government has been fighting in court not to abide by the decision and compensation package awarded by the courts to indigenous children who were part of the child welfare alleged abuses. The courts withheld their decision and have ordered Trudeau to pay. He is still fighting that decision.
The clean water initiative…NOT. Say no more. This surfer dude talks a good story but does nothing.
I am more than happy to go back to Ireland or Scotland if the need arises, if I am not welcome here in my land of my birth. Indeed all of us non indigenous people should leave and let the 1.4M Native and Metis people run the show and fall back into 3rd or even 4th world status. Isn’t it ironic that the Metis were half breeds of indigenous and, dare I say, Quebecois (Canadian) and European bloodlines.
If this is how we celebrate 30 September Truth and Reconciliation Day you can count me out.
Hypocrisy of the highest order.
