Is there somebody in there?
We spent our lives building in Manitoba. My wife ran a Lab and Imaging Unit. I ran businesses, farmed through brutal weather, survived terrible government policy, cared for aging parents, raised our family and contributed to our community. Farming was not merely hard. It was years of risk, sacrifice and uncertainty, with governments constantly making life more difficult for the people who actually produced something. Now Canada is losing another highly skilled young worker – my son – because the opportunities are better somewhere else (the US). Mark Carney and Wab Kinew can talk all they want about growth, innovation and compassion. People live with the results, not the speeches. Winnipeg cannot compete for talent when taxes are high, productivity is weak, investment leaves, wages lag and essential services fail.
Like the rest of Canada.

I knew it. Today I am a Chief. Tomorrow I get to play Premier of the Province of British Columbia: the Premier Chief. Hey, I like that.
In British Columbia, our Premier is giving the province away to the indigenous peoples who make up less than 4% of the population. Land titles be damned. What does our Premier have to say about this?
